After making a titanic joke on its sign, the subway restaurant received backlash for having “Poor taste.”

A US Subway restaurant has been under fire for making fun of the OceanGate Titan submarine on its exterior sign.

It seems that five people dying in a “catastrophic implosion” in a bottomless sea aren’t exactly material for a joke just yet.

Roughly 600 kilometres from Newfoundland, the five people travelling in the OceanGate submersible were headed to the location of the Titanic accident in the Atlantic Ocean.

However, they lost contact with the outside world around one and a half hours into their dive to the 12,500-foot ocean floor. Later, debris was found, which revealed that the experimental spacecraft had experienced a catastrophic problem and had detonated, killing all of the people on board almost instantly.

As a result, the CEO of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, has passed away, as has British billionaire Hamish Harding, French diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and passengers Suleman Dawood and Shahzada, who were father and son.

That didn’t stop the employees at a Georgia Subway from making light of it.

The Rincon Subway’s “Our subs don’t implode” sign was posted outdoors.

Many people who have seen the sign have said explicitly that it’s probably not in good taste in light of what happened.

It’s far too soon, nonetheless.
The store manager for that particular Subway reportedly told the local media that the sign had been taken down and that no more comments would be expected.

“Is it lacking in taste?” perused a post on Reddit. It’s Subway, after all, and a sizable crowd has shown up to express their opinions.

But there was a lot of debate over whether the joke was worse than Subway’s cuisine.

However, a person sent a picture to Twitter, saying, “This is at your Rincon, GA store.”

“It is not only disgusting, but depressing as well.”

“Perform better.”

“Is this what we’re doing now?” penned an additional.

“Making fun of people who have lost their lives.”
A third said, “This is tacky to say the least,” Rincon, Georgia.
“Better Subway.”

A fourth comment said, “@SUBWAY people literally lost their lives and you advertise with a joke on @OceanGateExped,”

“I hope your Rincon location closes and all of the staff are fired for their actions.”

According to a Subway official, they discussed this issue with the franchise and clarified that such remarks are inappropriate for their establishment. The sign was taken down a long time ago.
