A man and his wife, whom he had known since she was a baby, were expecting their first child.

The phrase “age is only a number” has been used multiple times. However, not everyone can use it while dealing with another human being.

Despite their obvious age difference, this couple found common ground.

Evie Boucher-Locke, 29, and Rich Foetu Tomkinson, 48, are head over heels in love. After meeting at a tavern where Rich poured her drinks, they immediately hit it off.

They began dating in July 2018 after meeting and were formally dating by October of the same year. In February of 2019, the couple decided to live together.

The two had a shocking realization once things began to proceed seriously, and they met each other’s families. Evie’s introduction to Rich’s mother, Sarah Owen, allowed the pair to learn something about one another that not many couples could say.

They worked on the same street in the 1990s, and when Rich met his girlfriend’s mother, Sarah, he discovered that he had seen her carrying Evie in a pram when she was a baby.

Learning that I had met Evie when she was a baby was disturbing. We both just laughed it off. “Age is irrelevant to us, and you can’t help but fall in love with the person you meet,” Rich explained.

They were 20 years apart in age. As a result, they are commonly misidentified as father and daughter.

People often mistake me for Evie’s father, but we get along great. Rich has stated that their age gap is not an issue.

Evie felt at ease with Rich because of his kind demeanor. Rich was also interested in her; to keep in touch, he invited her to join a huge charity event he arranged.

Rich realized he missed Evie while she was on vacation, and even though they remained in touch, he knew it was done. He acknowledged his intense love for Evie. Since that day, they have seldom ever been apart.

Rich was shocked to find that his father had cancer in late 2018. He went through a difficult emotional period, but Evie was there for him the entire time. This further added to his feelings for her.

He proposed to Evie just one month after they moved in together. Rich planned a lavish proposal in which he would ask the woman he loved to marry him in front of a thousand witnesses at a cinema theatre where he was playing a charity documentary.

“I said yes right away,” Evie recalls.

The couple planned to marry in June 2021, but it had to be postponed due to the Covid virus epidemic. Rich and Evie were forced to cancel the ceremony at Somerford Hall in Brewood due to the terrible deaths of both of their moms within six weeks.

We spoke about it, and Evie realized she couldn’t go down the aisle without her father, so she decided this wasn’t the wedding she had imagined. “There was a lot of sorrow,” Rich said.

We thought we’d lost everything and could only afford a wedding once we learned the insurance would pay out. Trying to put into words how anxious that was would be difficult. We were devastated by the loss. It made it much more difficult to mourn, and Rich pointed out that you shouldn’t have to.

They ultimately married in front of only 200 of their closest relatives and friends.

Rich: “My life’s best day was when I married Evie, and now we’re expecting our first child.

The happy couple believes they had the greatest fun together on the wedding day, which included dance-offs and other entertainment activities. They finally got married and are now anticipating their first child as a married couple, despite many of their loved ones initially disregarding them as a serious pair.

In sports days and other events, Rich says, “We’ve previously talked about people thinking I’m the granddad rather than the dad.

The two, however, plan to laugh it off and take everything in stride.
