The trash collector gently folds an american flag after finding it tossed away, following the correct instructions.

The garbage man couldn’t throw away an American flag he discovered in a trash can. He was seeking a moral means of getting rid of it.

And the person who unintentionally threw away the proof recorded it on tape.

Don Gardner seldom stops picking up garbage in Emery and Carbon counties in Utah. Still, when he does, he usually only asks elderly people to relocate their trashcans to the roadway. Gardner spends hours removing trash from these two counties.

Unless he spots a familiar design, like the stars and stripes.

He stated on KSTU that “I took an oath to protect our country and this flag once, and I still do.” “Many people died fighting and defending under that banner, and many of them were killed.” We are able to enjoy the privileges we have today because of the sacrifices made by numerous people.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, Gardner expressed his rage at witnessing an American flag being thrown in the garbage.

This is only one instance of something like this occurring. He has saved at least twelve flags during his eleven years as a garbage collector.

It makes me angry, he said. “I start to become angry. Sometimes, it’s an error. Almost always, this is done on purpose. I’ll take it out of the picture and deal with it because I have a problem with it.

It came out that the person who had thrown away the flag Gardner had stopped to look at had been watching him the entire time.

“He pulls up, gets out of his car, and I’m wondering what he’s doing,” the speaker says. When he arrives, he exits his truck. Brooke Cowley made this comment. She said, “And right away, I was so ashamed, like, oh my god, I was afraid because I’m married to a veteran.” “And right away, I felt so ashamed, like, oh my god, I was terrified.” Why on earth am I doing this?

Over the Easter holiday, Cowley made a mistake and threw the American flag out with the trash. Cowley kept observing Gardner as he went to get the flag. She captured him on camera and posted the video to several social media sites in order to show her community “what he accomplished” and “the care and affection that he gave our flag.”

She remarked, “I wanted them to see him and show him the respect he showed to our flag.” It was significant to me.

Gardner stated that he would be happy to instruct anyone interested in getting rid of an old American flag or caring for the flag themselves. The United States Flag Code states that an American flag should be destroyed dignifiedly, ideally by burning” if you are not in Emery or Carbon county in Utah. You will only need to do something if you reside in one of these counties.

Groups like the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, and American Legion will gather to retire flags properly. You may also ask your local fire department whether they will accept an American flag for disposal.
